About

Three paths, one single brand.Alberto, Giorgio and Alessandro: front-end, back-end and AI handled by the same people, from the first meeting to the deploy.

We were already working together, each with our own practice. At some point the question became obvious: why three different names for work the three of us do together?

The story

From three practices to one team

Utopys began where three professionals who already worked together met, each running their own practice. Alberto looked after clients on websites, web apps and AI projects; Giorgio and Alessandro brought complementary skills in interface, data and infrastructure.

Utopys is the answer to that question — one brand, one full-stack team, the same care we put into our individual projects.

The name holds together the idea of a space still to be built and the orbit opened by the U of the logo: technology as a tool, not as an end.

Alberto Racca

Alberto Racca

Founder · Project manager & Full-stack

Full-stack developer and project manager: he holds together timelines, priorities and the relationship with the client, and works on the code on both sides — interface, data models, APIs and infrastructure. A degree in Economics and Big Data, a master's in Management, Finance and Data Analytics, and Anthropic Claude certifications. Over the years he built the practice that today becomes Utopys.

Founder · Graphics, visual & front-end

Graphics, visual and front-end: from the visual identity to the page that puts it into practice. He takes every screen from the design file to the code that makes it genuinely work, at any screen size and for people navigating by keyboard too. A degree in Business Economics and Anthropic Claude certified, he looks at every project from the side of whoever has to make it pay, not only from the side of whoever builds it.

Founder · Back-end developer

Back-end developer: he builds the APIs, data models and integrations everything else rests on, and keeps an eye on the performance and security of whatever goes into production. He follows the product from wireframe to release, holding together what looks good and what is simple to use. A degree in Business Economics, with Anthropic Claude certifications in building AI applications.

Three roles, no bottleneck

The roles above say where each of us starts, not where we stop: all three of us can do the other two's work. That versatility is the strength — a project doesn't stall when someone is busy or away, reviews genuinely circulate between us instead of being a rubber stamp, and whoever answers you has the whole picture in mind, from the design to the database.

Skills

What we bring to a project

A background in economics and statistics joined to software development: we read the data and we build the tools that use it.

  • A degree in Economics and Big Data, and specialisation in management and data analytics
  • Advanced machine learning and generative AI applied to real products
  • Database and data pipeline design as the foundation of every AI solution
  • Anthropic Claude certifications in building AI applications
  • Full-stack development: front-end, back-end, infrastructure and deployment

Stack

85 technologies, 12 areas

We don't use them all on every project: each time we pick the ones that solve the problem with the fewest moving parts. This is the perimeter we can move in without leaning on anyone.

The ecosystem

We don't work alone

Around Utopys there's a network of professionals we collaborate with project by project, and there are the people we're training so that one day they'll be part of it. A project never stalls because we're missing a skill.

We collaborate, we don't subcontract

When a project needs a skill that isn't ours, we call whoever does it for a living: our ecosystem has professionals of every kind. You, though, keep talking to us — and the responsibility for the result stays ours.

We train the ones coming next

We give people starting out real work to learn on, closely supervised, with the idea that whoever grows with us might one day work inside this ecosystem. It's the same reason Lumina exists.

We believe in people, and in their ideas

Every project brought to us starts with somebody imagining something that doesn't exist yet. We believe in it before we even quote for it: our job is to take it from the idea to the thing that works.

Beyond Utopys

Lumina

Outside the commercial practice, the three of us co-founded Lumina: a non-profit student initiative born at LUMSA University, from the LM-77 master's course. It isn't a Utopys project and it sells nothing: students exploring Big Data and Artificial Intelligence alongside other students, as peers. First edition in the 2026/2027 academic year.

Twelve formats

Practical workshops, seminars, hands-on labs, beginner and advanced study groups, peer mentorship, project challenges, open content. A calendar built together across the academic year, not a catalogue.

Three pillars

Practice: every concept anchored to a dataset or a project. Ethics: every technology studied for bias, privacy, labour and environment too. Community: a horizontal network of students, lecturers and researchers.

Open places

We're looking for universities and departments, research centres, companies in data and AI, the non-profit sector, open source communities and cultural institutions willing to back an initiative that started from the ground up. All six places are open.
